Since 2020, Mt Barker South Primary transformed literacy teaching with Cue Learning and the “Be Brave and Lead” initiative.

Shifting from scripted methods to inclusive practices, the school prioritised student agency, teacher collaboration, and love for learning.

Strategies included rich literature, gradual release of responsibility, and consistent routines. A literacy action team, peer coaching, and collaborative planning drove change, fostering equity, learner agency, and improved outcomes through authentic literacy practices.
